I was born in the USSR and grew up in post-Soviet Russia, Moscow. I’m so old that I still remember how to roll a film on a reel in a dark room.
After graduating from university with a journalism major, I worked in a daily newspaper as a photo reporter. I discovered how uncertain life can be. Our comprehension of life is limited by the personal experience and knowledge of history. It can be difficult to predict anything that may happen next, whether it be a month, a year, or even a single moment. It is one of the beauties and horrors of life.
I spent 6 years in Montenegro, where I focused on photographing the daily lives of children in the recovering economy after the Balkan crisis. During that time, my family and I have traveled to many Balkan countries. The fusion of the West and East cultures in Balkans impressed me and made me fall in love with the beauty of this region.
Since 2017, I have been living in Gaithersburg, Maryland, USA. What I love the most about America are its nature and people. Cultural diversity makes the US a unique and interesting country to study more closely.
